Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland is a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to low-income Maryland residents. At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, Executive Director Sharon E. Goldsmith recognized the need for her team to learn self-care techniques to address work-related stress and to help improve their effectiveness in the workplace.
Challenge
Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland’s staff was experiencing work-related stress and burnout due to the increased demand for legal services during the COVID pandemic. This was impacting their ability to provide quality legal services to low-income residents of Maryland. The organization needed to find a way to address this issue and support the well-being of their staff.

To address this problem, Executive Director Sharon E. Goldsmith enlisted the help of justBe, for their expertise in experiential education on self-care techniques. justBe created a healing space for Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland's staff to share their feelings regarding work stressors and burnout. They provided experiential education on how to stay grounded, motivated, and apply fundamental concepts of self-care. Through these sessions, Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland's staff learned valuable techniques for managing work-related stress and burnout, which improved their effectiveness in the workplace and their ability to provide quality legal services to low-income Maryland residents.

Overall, the partnership between Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland and justBe was a success. By prioritizing staff well-being and providing valuable self-care techniques, Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland was able to improve staff effectiveness and better serve their clients.
